My future job

Imagen
Hello everyone, today I am going to talk about my career and professional dreams and goals. I study political science and I have always wanted to be able to dedicate myself to academic work. Working in research and teaching are dreams that I have had for years, even before I studied political science. I feel that in this way I contribute to the creation of knowledge that tributes to the history of social movements that have paved the way for transformations in Chile and Latin America.  Currently I work as a transcriber and I have occasionally participated in some research projects and I have had a great time. This work is generally office-based, although it is currently done at home. Field work in this sense is related to conducting interviews, focus groups or ethnographies with individuals or communities. As an academic I could travel to different countries for congresses, lectures and talks on different topics of interest. In particular, I would like to develop on the rela...

Post-Graduate Studies

Studying political science is interesting, but it has no labor field. In order to make my way in the job market, I need to study for a master's degree. My first option is to study for a continuing master's degree in political science. That way I can start the master's degree when I am in the last year of my degree.  I really like being able to study political science in depth, because that way I will be able to develop important methodological skills for academic research. My interests revolve around qualitative methods, trying to include discourse analysis as a methodological tool to understand reality and study it.  In any case, as a way of professional and academic development, I would like to study outside Chile. Whether it is Mexico, Bolivia, United Kingdom, France or Spain, I would like to be able to study a PhD in social sciences, perhaps in sociology. My interests are in the relationship between civil society movements and the state and how they impact formal and in...

One of the concerts I remember most fondly was the "Canto para una semilla", by Violeta Parra, Luis Advis and Inti Illimani. I went to see it in 2017 at the municipal theater with my girlfriend.  The concert was a tribute to Violeta Parra and featured performances by Inti Illimani and Isabel Parra.  This concert is the union of Violeta Parra's biographical tenths, which was modified by the arrangements of Luis Advis (author of the most famous Cantata de Santa María de Iquique) and featured the original interpretation of Inti Illimani, plus the voices of Carmen Bunster and Isabel Parra.  It was a very intimate experience, even though the theater was at maximum capacity. People were excited to hear live one of the most important compositions for Advis and Inti Illimani, which vindicates Violeta's life with a staging that highlights episodes of her life such as her childhood, love, political denunciation and her death. The relationship between the instruments and the ...
